Kanopy Labs LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates Faithly, a text-based devotional subscription service. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our Service. By using Faithly, you consent to the data practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Information you provide directly:
- Phone number (required for message delivery)
- First name (optional, for personalization)
- Message content you send to Faithly
Information collected automatically:
- Message delivery and read receipts
- Subscription status and billing history
- Device and browser information when visiting our website
- IP address and approximate location (website visits only)
Information from third parties:
- Payment information processed by Stripe (we never store card numbers)
- Message delivery data from our messaging provider
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information exclusively to:
- Deliver daily devotional messages and respond to your texts
- Process subscription payments and manage your account
- Personalize content based on your preferences and interactions
- Send transactional messages (billing confirmations, service updates)
- Improve, maintain, and protect the Service
- Comply with legal obligations
We do NOT use your information for third-party advertising or sell your data to any party, ever.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We share your information only with the following categories of service providers who are contractually bound to protect your data:
- Stripe, Inc. — payment processing (PCI DSS Level 1 certified)
- LoopMessage — iMessage and SMS delivery
- MongoDB Atlas — encrypted database hosting
- Vercel — website hosting and infrastructure
We do not sell, rent, lease, or share your personal information with any third party for their own marketing purposes.
5. Data Security
We implement commercially reasonable security measures including: encryption of data in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest, secure API authentication for all service integrations, restricted access controls on a need-to-know basis, and regular security assessments. Payment card data is processed exclusively by Stripe and never touches our servers. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in this policy:
- Active subscribers: data retained for duration of subscription
- After cancellation: personal data deleted within 90 days
- Billing records: retained for 7 years as required by tax law
- Message logs: deleted within 30 days of cancellation
You may request immediate deletion at any time (see Section 8).
7. Cookies & Website Tracking
Our website uses minimal, strictly necessary technologies:
- localStorage: stores consent acknowledgment (no personal data)
We do NOT use third-party analytics, advertising cookies, tracking pixels, social media trackers, or fingerprinting technologies. We do not participate in cross-site tracking or targeted advertising of any kind.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Right to correction: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Right to deletion: request deletion of your personal data
- Right to opt out: reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe instantly
- Right to data portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Right to non-discrimination: exercising your rights will not result in discriminatory treatment
To exercise any of these rights, reply to any Faithly message or email nate@kanopylabs.com. We will respond within 30 days.
9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). We do not sell or share personal information as defined by these laws. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes beyond what is necessary to provide the Service. You may designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf.
10. Children's Privacy
Faithly is not directed at and does not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18 years of age. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
11. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our servers and service providers are located. By using the Service, you consent to such transfer. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
12. Disclosure Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental regulation, or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to: (a) comply with a legal obligation; (b) protect our rights, property, or safety; (c) prevent fraud or abuse; or (d) protect the personal safety of users or the public.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify active subscribers of material changes via text message at least 30 days before the changes take effect. The “Effective Date” at the top indicates when this policy was last revised. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
